Description: On July 1st, 2024, the Department of Management Information Systems (MIS), International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) hosted an event titled "Exploring the World of Cybersecurity: A Technological Introduction for Students". The event, which ran from 10 am to 1 pm, aimed to raise awareness about cybersecurity and its importance among 32 female students from the BBA and CSE programs. The key resource persons for the event were Ms. Achia Khaled Nila, the Founder, Managing Director, and CEO of Women in Digital and Ms. Elham Nusrat, Software Engineer, from Women in Digital. &#xD;
The mission and vision of "Women in Digital" were delineated by the speakers. Their software development business is comprised of a team of highly experienced female engineers who are dedicated to enhancing the representation of women in the digital economy. The speakers covered case studies on the use of the internet in public places, mobile hacking, and cyberbullying, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and risks associated with the digital landscape. The workshop's focus on cybersecurity education directly contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality). By empowering female students with knowledge and skills in cybersecurity, the event helps to bridge the gender gap in the digital and technology fields, aligning with the commitment to promote gender equality and women's empowerment. &#xD;
The workshop was organized by Mr. Mohammad Baijed, a Lecturer in the Department of MIS, who delivered the opening speech and introduced the guests. Mr. Nahid, a Senior Assistant Professor and the Head of the Department of MIS, gave the vote of thanks. Other faculty members in attendance included Mr. Tahrul Islam, Mr. Kamrul, Dr. Partha, Dr. Aftab, and Dr. Rezbin. The event was designed to align with AIUB's commitment to raising awareness about cybersecurity and its impact on students' academic, professional, and personal lives.&#xD;
At the end of the workshop, the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) at AIUB and Women in Digital signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The signatories were Dr. Rezbin, the Director of FBA, and Ms. Achia Khaled Nila. This MOU will be mutually beneficial for both organizations, as it will foster collaboration and create opportunities for joint initiatives. AIUB's partnership with Women in Digital will further strengthen its efforts to empower women in the digital and technology sectors, providing students with access to specialized training, mentorship, and career development opportunities. The event was held in Lab 2201, Annex-2, at the AIUB campus, providing a conducive environment for the interactive sessions and hands-on learning experiences. The collaboration between AIUB and Women in Digital demonstrates the university's commitment to preparing its students, particularly women, for the challenges and opportunities of the digital age. By equipping them with essential cybersecurity knowledge and skills, AIUB is empowering its students to navigate the digital landscape safely and effectively, ultimately contributing to their academic, professional, and personal success. This event is a testament to AIUB's dedication to fostering a culture of innovation, technology, and inclusivity, where women are encouraged to explore and excel in the field of cybersecurity. Description: The Department of Management Information Systems at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) successfully hosted a webinar titled “IT Based Project Management in Banks: Project Planning, Budgeting, Time Management, Implementation, and Associated Challenges” on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM via Zoom. The event commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. Rezbin Nahar, Associate Professor and Director of the Undergraduate Program (BBA), Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), AIUB. Dr. Nahar emphasized the critical importance of developing robust project management skills for success in today's rapidly evolving banking environment, where technological innovation drives competitive advantage. The primary resource person for the webinar was Mr. Nazmul Hasan, PMP, CSM, CSPO. Mr. Hasan has become a renowned expert in the financial and information security sectors, having accumulated a decade of experience in project management. He is adept at overseeing large-scale, intricate global initiatives. He is currently responsible for the management of numerous information security projects at Citibank in Budapest, Hungary. Prior to that, he was the Associate Project Manager &amp; Business Analyst of process optimization and data quality management initiatives at Morgan Stanley.&#xD;
Mr. Hasan initiated the session by discussing his enthusiasm for employing technology to address intricate business challenges and to promote organizational success through strategic project management. His comprehensive discussion encompassed predictive project management methodologies, resource allocation with RACI charts, work division structures, and key phases of project management. He also underscored the importance of essential skills for project managers and career opportunities in the field, while connecting the webinar's themes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-8, SDG-9, and SDG-17), including the development of resilient infrastructure and the promotion of innovation. The emphasis on essential project management skills and career opportunities in the field was used to address SDG-8, which promotes respectable work and economic growth. This approach facilitated professional development and improved employability in high-demand sectors such as financial and information security. In the context of SDG-9, which emphasizes the development of resilient infrastructure and the promotion of innovation, Mr. Hasan's discourse on the utilization of technology to address intricate business challenges underscored the significance of innovative methodologies such as data automation and predictive project management in the development of sustainable systems. Finally, his insights on resource allocation, which are facilitated by RACI charts and collaborative frameworks that facilitate effective collaboration and global partnerships in large-scale projects, reflected SDG-17, which emphasizes partnerships as a means of attaining objectives. Special guest Md. Foysal Hasan, Assistant program coordinator of the Masters in Bank Management (MBM) program, Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management and Guest faculty Member, Dept of MIS, AIUB enriched the session with his expertise in banking management education.  The webinar concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks delivered by Mehzab H. Nahid, Senior Assistant Professor, and Head of Department of Management Information System, AIUB. Mr. Nahid expressed gratitude to the speakers and participants while emphasizing the department's commitment to bridging theoretical knowledge with industry practices. Description: The Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) at the American International University—Bangladesh (AIUB) successfully organised a talk show titled "Unlocking the Power of Data for Your Profession: Mindsets and Techniques for Success" on November 18th, 2024. The event aimed to provide students with valuable insights into how data-driven decision-making is shaping various industries and empowering professionals to excel in their careers. The event featured three distinguished AIUB alumni as guest speakers: Altaf Uddin Akromi, an expert in influencer marketing and marketing manager at Home Decor; Zeenat Samiha Nasrin Nijhum, assistant manager at bKash; Sahrin Tajnova, manager at The City Bank PLC; and Fardeen Hossain, marketing manager at MSI. These accomplished professionals shared their experiences about how leveraging data has become essential in their respective fields. Mr. Akromi elaborated on the significance of data analytics in influencer marketing, explaining how data-driven strategies enable brands to identify the right influencers and measure campaign effectiveness. HI emphasised the importance of tracking engagement metrics and consumer behaviour to create impactful marketing campaigns. Ms Nijhum and Sahrin highlighted how data analysis plays a crucial role in the fintech and banking industry. Mr Fardeen Hossain discussed the use of data in marketing strategies, focusing on market research, consumer insights, and trend analysis. He explained how data helps in crafting targeted marketing campaigns and making informed decisions that drive business growth. An engaging Q&amp;A session followed the panel discussion, where students eagerly interacted with the guest speakers. The Alumni addressed various queries related to data usagen, career development, and industry-specific challenges, providing attendees with actionable insights and career guidance. &#xD;
This event significantly contributed to Sustainable Development Goals SDG-4 (Quality Education) and SDG-8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). By fostering data literacy and promoting data-driven decision-making, the event empowered students with critical skills essential for modern professional environments. The interactive session, moderated by Mr. Mehzabul Hoque Nahid (Head of the Department of MIS, AIUB), and insights shared by distinguished alumni highlighted practical applications of data analytics across industries like marketing, fintech, and banking. This knowledge exchange not only enhanced students' understanding of industry-specific challenges but also prepared them to meet market demands effectively, aligning with AIUB’s commitment to meaningful education for sustainable development. By equipping students with actionable insights and fostering career readiness, the talk show advanced SDG targets related to education quality, employability, and economic growth while promoting a culture of innovation and sustainability within Bangladesh's context. &#xD;
Esteemed faculty members of the MIS Department, including Khandakar Tahurul Islam, Jubayer Suhan, AKM Kamrul Haque, and Mohammad Baijed, were present at the event, showing their support and enthusiasm for fostering industry-academia connections. The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr Aftab Anwar, Head of the Department of Human Resources and Management. He commended the guest speakers for sharing their valuable experiences and insights, and he encouraged students to develop a data-driven mindset to stay competitive in the evolving job market. Dr Anwar also expressed his gratitude to the organising team for arranging such an impactful session. As a token of appreciation, Dr Aftab Anwar presented souvenirs to the distinguished guests, acknowledging their contribution to making the event a success. With over 150 students in attendance, the talk show provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and learning, inspiring participants to harness the power of data in their professional journeys.</summary>

The seminar commenced at 09:15 AM and concluded at 11:00 AM, featuring Shyamol B D, Additional Managing Director of Technology &amp; Digital Banking Operations at Nagad, as the resource person. &#xD;
He enriched the seminar by sharing his professional journey. He discussed how leveraging analytics has driven innovation and efficiency in digital banking operations at Nagad, providing real-world examples of turning data insights into financial success. His expertise in technology and leadership inspired students to understand the transformative power of analytics in shaping modern businesses. This seminar provided students with a comprehensive understanding of how raw data could be converted into valuable business outcomes through advanced analytical tools and techniques. The primary objective was to inspire students to explore the growing field of business analytics as a career path by demonstrating practical applications across industries such as finance, marketing, and operations. Through real-world examples and insights from Shyamol B D, Additional Managing Director of Technology &amp; Digital Banking Operations at Nagad, participants learned how analytics could uncover patterns, predict trends, and create competitive advantages for businesses.
