Exploring trajectories of English language education policy for socio-economic sustainability

Title: Exploring trajectories of English language education policy for socio-economic sustainability
Authors: Ibna Seraj, Prodhan Mahbub
Abstract: The discussion in this study aims to figure out how English Language policy will contribute to the sustainable socioeconomic condition of a country. To do this, the searching strings such as “ English Language Education policy” and “Language Education management policy” were employed through Google Scholar, limiting the time frame from 2020 to June 2025. The 56 studies were found to be very close to the objectives of this study and considered to elicit a response to answer the investigation of this study. The selected studies held a discussion in different contexts such as India, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Chile, South Korea, Ghana, China, Thailand, Iran, and Taiwan. This study found that the key factors for designing the English language education policy were sociocultural, pedagogy, globalization, economic competitiveness, neoliberalism, the layers of education, and upgrading living standards. The study also found a gap between the practical implications and the conceptual policy in these contexts. Thus, policy decisions, investments made, and the subsequent results were sometimes not coherent. Therefore, this study will recommend conducting more research to mitigate the policy and practice for a sustainable socioeconomic state.

Toxic cityscape, slow violence, and necropolitics: “Storied” air in Animal’s People and Moth Smoke

Title: Toxic cityscape, slow violence, and necropolitics: “Storied” air in Animal’s People and Moth Smoke
Authors: Shibaji, Mridha
Abstract: Drawing on references from material ecocriticism, Rob Nixon’s idea of slow violence, and Achille Mbembe’s concept of necropolitics, this paper foregrounds the intersection between air injustice among economically marginalized postcolonial subjects and slow violence-triggered disease and decay. It explicates how South Asia has been positioned as a site of air vulnerability and air inequality in the age of the Anthropocene. It argues that the ‘storied’ atmosphere in Animal’s People by Indra Sinha and Moth Smoke by Mohsin Hamid can serve both as a text and a context to acknowledge the crucial omnipresence of air and its dynamic agency, warning humanity not to take air for granted as an invisible and hollow force.

Title: Exploring TPACK Literacy among Early Career English Teachers in Bangladesh
Authors: Khan, Akibur Rahman; Akhter, Priyanka
Abstract: This study uses mixed methods to examine TPACK literacy among early-career
English teachers in Bangladesh. It focuses on their readiness to use technology
in teaching. Findings show varied levels of TPACK skills, with gaps in technology
use. The study recommends improving teacher training through digital literacy,
practical experience, and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to
support effective technology-based teaching.

Title: Learning Style Preferences of the Bangladeshi Gen-Z EFL Learners
Authors: Siddique, Shahrina Afrin; Easmin, Touhida
Abstract: The study investigates the learning style preferences of Bangladeshi tertiary-level EFL learners born between 1997-2012 using an explanatory mixed methods approach. The findings strongly suggest digital, interactive, and learner-centered environments.
