Watch IT: An assistive device for deaf and hearing impaired

Abstract

Hearing influence is one of the basic needs of our daily lives. By good communication skill, we can promote better health, greater educational attainment and many more. Lots of confusions may arise when a hearing impaired person try to communicate with a general person. In this paper an assistive device has been proposed which aids hearing impaired person ensuring freedom to communicate easily with anyone getting close. The impaired person needs to put on the device which is designed like a wrist watch and carry an android phone with him or her. This device works by receiving voice and interpreting it into the readable text continuously and becomes visible on the LCD screen. Whenever a person wants to listen something from someone he just needs to open the app in his phone and go through his watch. The system has been developed such a way that there is no specific limitation of speech input. It's a very much simple and light device to operate and carry out.
