Abstract: AI and Emerging Technologies are playing catalyst roles rather than disruptors. In the language classroom, AI and technologies are being used in many ways to develop learners’ language skills in foreign or native contexts rigorously and effectively. Technologies assist in promoting personalised learning, overcoming language barriers and developing intercultural competence (Kasumova et al., 2024; Lai et al., 2023; Palamar et al., 2023). Moreover, these technologies are also helpful for learning foreign language through visualization, concentration, direct involvement, and effectiveness (Palamar et al., 2023; Wong, 2024). On the other hand, debate on the use of technology is somewhat prevailing, especially using ChatGPT (Sangeethapriya, 2024). In spite of the debate, this discussion will highlight the catalyst role of AI and Emerging Technologies for learning language skills in any context with limitations.
